I've mentioned the sci-fi magazine Electric Velocipede before on the blog. They've made the announcement that they'll no longer be a print zine but are taking the online route. On the SMFS board Jay Hartman of Untreed Reads announced a call for submissions for two anthologies - one for Mother's Day and the other for Father's day. They're looking for crime, thriller, suspense and mystery of 1500 to 5000 words. Deadlines are April 8 and May 1. Also from SMFS is Voices from the Garage. This is both an online zine and bi-monthly print. They're seeking shorts of 1000 to 10,000 words in the genres of noir, sci-fi, and literary. Over at the Creative Writing Contests blog http://writingcontests.wordpress.com I ran across a no fee contest for YA short stories involving aspects of the paranormal or urban fantasy ala Jim Butcher. There is an interview up at D L Snells' Market Scoops blog with the editor of the AUS magazine Cosmos. This is a sci-fi magazine looking for sci-fi shorts of 2000 to 4000 words.
