FictionMagazines.com which included the crime fiction magazine Heater seems to have closed up shop.  All I get is an oops when I click on their links.

I'm not sure if I posted this one before but it's worth another mention even if I did.  Coffin Hop Press is looking for novellas of 20,000 to 50,000 words in the genres of dark crime, psychological horror, and noir themed for their new Noirvellas line.  There's no mention of pay so that's something you'll have to query.  You can find the details here.

The Lawyerist - No Fee Short Fiction Contest

The Lawyerist.com has opened submissions for their 4th annual short fiction contest.  They're looking for short stories up to 5000 words that feature a lawyer as a prominent character.  There's no fee to enter.  The deadline is August 1, 2017.  First prize is $200 and the runner up will receive $100.  You can find the details here.

BlunderWoman Publications - Anthology Call

BlunderWoman Publications has posted an audiobook anthology call (no title as yet).  They're looking for poems, stories, and essays up to 10,000 words about a defining moment in your life.  The deadline is July 7, 2017 and payment is $50.  You can find the details here.

Canadian based Buckshot Magazine is a new market.  They're looking for flash fiction stories of 500 to 2000 words in all genres.  Online reprints are okay (personal blog, etc.).  There's no deadline or launch date listed.  Payment is $35 CAD ($25 USD).  You can find the details here.

Malice Domestic Anthology #13 - Open for Submissions

Malice Domestic has opened submissions for their yearly anthology.  The theme for this one is "Mystery Most Geographical" which means that location is the most important element to the story.  Your mystery stories can be up to 5000 words.  The deadline is August 31, 2017.  There is no mention of payment.  You can find the details here.  For those who don't know Malice Domestic is a mystery writers conference.

Radix Media - Anthology Call

Radix Media has posted an anthology call for "Aftermath:  Explorations of Loss and Grief".  They're looking for fiction, non-fiction, and poetry of 500 to 3000 words that explores all types of loss.  Reprints will be considered but they prefer original work.  The deadline is August 15, 2017 and payment is 6cents a word for fiction and non-fiction and a flat rate of $35 for poetry.  You can find the details here

Hollywood Dementia - Open for Submissions

I ran across an interesting site in my search today called Hollywood Dementia.  They're looking for showbiz short fiction of 2500 to 8000 words.  You have to query first because they are looking for writers who are knowledgeable about the entertainment business.  There's no mention of payment but the site is very active.  You can find the details here.

Reality Skimming Press has posted two anthology calls.  The first is Vancouver Science Fiction and the second is Water.  Only Canadian authors can submit.  Both are looking for stories up to 5000 words with payment being $30.  You can find the details and deadlines for each here.

Stitched Smile Publications - Anthology Call

Stitched Smile Publications has posted an anthology call for "Drive-in of the Damned:  Black and White".  They're looking for horror stories up to 7500 words set prior to 1970.  They have set up the story with a piece explaining the entrance to "The drive-in of the damned".  Your story must be about a person in the vehicle which is entering.  The deadline is October 31, 2017 and payment is $10.  You can find the details here.

Franklin/Kerr - Anthology Call

Publisher Franklin/Kerr has posted an anthology call for "Down with the Fallen".  They're looking for horror stories of 2000 to 8000 words with post-apocalyptic and dystopian themes.  The deadline is July 21, 2017 and payment is $5 per 1000 words plus royalties.  You can find the details here.

Pantheon Magazine has opened submissions for their Fall issue.  They're looking for stories in all genres fitting the theme of "Tethys, Titaness of Fresh Water".  Meaning they want stories that revolve around fresh water such as rivers, lakes, etc.  The deadline is July 31, 2017 and payment is 1cent a word.  You can find the details here.  They do accept reprints but there is no payment for these.

Fictional Pairings - New Market

Fictional Pairings is a fairly new market for flash fiction.  They're looking for stories of 200 to 1000 words in the genres of science fiction, mystery, and fantasy.  They will pair the story with a song from Bandcamp when published.  The payment is 75cents for stories of 200 to 600 words and $1.25 for stories of 601 to 1000 words.  Not very much but better than nothing.  They'll also accept reprints that have been published on your blog or website.  You can find the submission details here.
