Milhaven Tales - Closed

I sometimes wonder what zine publishers are thinking.  When I clicked on the Milhaven Tales site I found that they had closed the site to visitors.  In order to access their site you must have a WordPress Account and permission from the site owner.  I would consider this a closed market.  When you have to jump through hoops to find their guidelines or links to their magazines it means that readers will also have to go through those hoops and they probably won't bother.  No readers - No point.

UPDATE:  Thomas Pluck has found a new link and the zine is still open.  Thanks, Thomas!

Break Out the Cake and Ice Cream

So...it's been ten years since I started this blog and it's been a lot of fun.  I've met a lot of great writers on their way up, even a few famous ones have stopped by like Ken Bruen and Sean Chercover.  We've all shared Snoopy Dances over publications and award winners.  The blog even managed to be nominated for a service to the community Spinetingler Award way back when.

The blog gives me pleasure and a feeling of accomplishment.  And I get great joying from hearing from writers who get their stories published because I posted a listing.

I never in a million years thought I could keep this blog going for ten years so thank you to all who visit and keeping me going.  It's a great pleasure to see your names in so many table of contents for anthologies and magazines.  May your success continue!

Thank you all for stopping by.

Cracked Fairy Tales and the Holocaust by Sabrina Orah Mark

I just found this beautiful essay by Sabrina Orah Mark that takes the reader into the mind of a writer and the bizarre way imagination takes over her mind and spins out stories.  It is elegant, beautiful, heartbreaking, and terribly sad.  But it makes perfect sense.
