One of my favorite writers. Lot of great stories, and even his lesser ones are good solid work.
"I Am Legend" had a huge influence on countless works that came after; there's still no cinematic version that does it justice (though the 1964 Italian production "The Last Man on Earth", starring Vincent Price, is pretty close).

It's so sad that in all the moves made no one ever gives us the ending that Matheson wrote. His ending just blew me away on so many levels.
