6/8 by Trey R. Barker

Sometimes you read a story and want to throw everything you've ever written in the trash, knowing that you can't make the words dance like the writer you've just read.

Boy, is that the truth. Happens to me after I read my daughter.

I try to write with the attitude that there will always be someone better, it makes rejection so much easier to bear :) But there are times that I wonder why I bother.

I wonder why we always compare ourselves to other writers, especially when no two writers ever write the same?

And with your daughter? That's got to be both a blessing a curse! Thankfully no one in my family writes but they tend to look at me like I've grown an extra head when I try to talk about writing.

That's exactly how I felt when this sub came in. I wasn't familiar with Trey's work, but it was an instant yes for approval.

I've no family members competing for literary greatness, a few asking when I'll finish my book(s). Food and roof comes first.

Yeah, I get that, too, Ron. When are you going to finish that novel and make us a million bucks?
