One of the "new" writers I discovered this year was Joe R. Lansdale. I first heard his name over at Bill Crider's excellent blog http://billcrider.blogspot.com/ but really came to his work through his wonderful essays over at the Mulholland Books website. Today, Mr. Lansdale has another essay up over at Mulholland called "The Battery Powered Christmas". http://www.mulhollandbooks.com/2011/12/20/the-battery-powered-xmas/
