The Work It Takes

Over on Woody Haut's Blog there's a video up called "The Rough South of Larry Brown" where the late Mr. Brown himself tells about the hard work, the studying, and rejections that he faced learning to be a writer. http://woodyhaut.blogspot.com/2009/06/ive-long-regarded-larry-brown-one-of.html

I read his book "Father and Son" nearly two years ago and the book still haunts me. The man was a vast talent.

I will look for the full documentary on his life. Inspirational to say the least.

The video is almost enough to make any aspiring writer to give up before they get in too deep. But, Larry Brown did it.

Isn't it funny how many writers don't consider the hard work before they start, Barbara? There's a long road of rejection and disappointments between writing down words and getting published without losing faith in your work. I'm glad Larry stuck it out because he was one hell of a writer.
