Plots with Guns?

Does anyone know what's up with Plots with Guns?  The site seems to have disappeared.

Neil had a heart attack. He's been in the hospital but says he'll get the site up again when he's recuperated.

Thanks, Bill. I hadn't heard about that. I hope he's better soon.

I should've mentioned that he posted this info on Facebook yesterday, along with a photo of himself in the hospital. He's a spirited guy.

Good to know, Bill, it gives everyone a place to send their well-wishes. And being in good spirits is half the battle when you're not well.

Just now posted to Facebook by Neil:

"Announcement: it's weird that this is coming at the same time as my recent heart attack, but they're not connected. Not really. Sort of.

But here it is. We've come to the end of PLOTS WITH GUNS...again.

Why? Well, I screwed up our payment because my card expired, and I got the new one, but they still didn't renew it, and I never called them, and, boom, heart attack, and oh fuck it. Plus, Sean O'Kane, Erik Lundy, and Gonzalo Baeza, the current editorial staff and braintrust, have also decided it's time to move on. But good lord, they've done phenomenal work.

Anyway, they're doing ONE LAST GIANT ISSUE, and I'm trolling for contributions from some of those more famous writers I know. Please, please, rich and famous writer people, please submit a short story for the LAST ISSUE OF PLOTS WITH GUNS.

Seriously, I'm only looking at those with sweet advances and sweet expense accounts for book tours. Toss in one of those discarded chapters or abandoned projects. It doesn't even have to be good! We just want to use your name to get attention.

We've done this once before--the "Big Shot" issue--and it ended up spawning a bestseller from Laura Lippman and a short movie based on Steve Hamilton's story.

I didn't expect it, but alas, why not? I could go through all the effort of getting a new editorial staff and artist and all that, but, ya know...no. Let the Thuglits and Shotgun Honeys and Needles and Beat to a Pulps and if I missed you, give me a breaks of the world keep on pulling off the amazing feat of bringing new and brilliant short crime fiction into the world. We did what we set out to do. We're done, and we're throwing one last party.

And I totally reserve the right to change my mind and start it up again whenever the hell I want, too."

Thanks for the update, Brian. Sad news indeed, but at least they'll be going out in style.

Just saw the latest post. Sorry that the site is going down for good. Some great stuff appeared there.

You're right there, Bill, they had some great stories published there over the years.
