There's a great interview with ThugLit editor Todd Robinson over at The Thrill Begins website.

Looks like another one is biting the dust.

Looks like a possibility, Patti.

I really hope Thuglit can survive. It is a pioneer in the (neo?) noir genre and publishes high quality stories. But yes, the tone of the interview is bleak.

I hope so to, Travis, but as Todd stated you can't keep paying to produce a product that people aren't buying. It's such a great magazine I really hate to think that it may shut down.

I feel like short stories are like the iPod. People don't know that they want/need it until they try it. It's a matter of awareness and people taking the time to have the experience of reading short, strong stories.

When I was growing up there were short stories everywhere, Travis, and there was no bias against them that I knew of. But as the magazines stopped printing them people suddenly decided they didn't like short stories. I agree with you that people just need to read great shorts to realize that yes, they do like short stories.
