Hidden Youth - Anthology Call

"Hidden Youth:  Speculative Fiction from the Margins of History" is an anthology that will be published by Grossed Genres Publications.  They're looking for stories of 2000 to 8000 words that are set before 1935 CE (Common Era - same as AD without the religious overtones, and yes, I had to look it up).  The story also must feature a young person under 18 years of age who is marginalized in his time and place ( ie: slavery, women, gay, handicapped, etc.).  The stories must contain elements of science fiction, fantasy, horror, or the weird.  The deadline is April 30 and payment is 6cents a word.  You can find the details here.

So strange and hard to fathom that for most of recorded history, half the population, the female half, can be considered "marginalized". It's true, though (and, in spite of progress, there's still a lot of truth to it today).

Good idea for an anthology. Now that I think of it, there are a lot of good stories that meet those criteria, but I never thought of making it the basis for an anthology.

Yes, there's so many places you can take a story like that and having the genres fairly open can really raise the bar on this one.
