Seventh Star Press has three new anthology calls listed. Story lengths for all are 2000 to 10,000 words and payment is royalties. The calls are:
1. A Chimerical World: Tales of the Seelie Court/Tales of the Unseelie Court (fey themed) deadline July 15.
2. Hero's Best Friend, deadline June 30.
3. Fires of Liberty, deadline June 1.

Sandra, when you see a call for stories that includes a wrong word (perhaps a typo, but I fear simply an editor who doesn't know the difference - in this case, using "insure" when the clearly intended word was "ensure"), does it affect whether you submit? My initial reaction is that I don't want to be published by someone who makes a mistake like this in the call for stories. But then I wonder if I'm too much of a hard ass.
I try not to post markets (and usually don't submit) that have errors in their calls. Yesterday I found an interesting market that misused their and there in the guidelines. Probably just a simple mistake of trusting Spellcheck but it was the editor and he should have caught something as simple as that.
As for insure and ensure - I usually screw them up myself (that's why I keep a dictionary next to the computer :)) so I'd give them a pass if everything else was okay in the call.
It's so easy to make mistakes and sometimes what we see on the page is what's in our head, not what's actually there in front of us.
Yes, it is very easy to miss errors on the page because you intended it to be something else. That's why everyone needs an editor.
Yep, sometimes even the editor himself. :)
