Saturday Linkage

The weather has calmed down and I had a chance to bounce around the Internet this morning where I managed to pick up a few interesting tid-bits to pass along.

The Flash Fiction Offensive http://theflashfictionoffensive.blogspot.com has picked up a new editor. Byron Quertermous will be helming the operation now. Bryon was editor of the late, great, Demolition magazine. He also created Flash Pan Alley, a great flash site where you'll still find plenty of stories archived for your reading pleasure (including a few of my early stories) http://flashpanalley.wordpress.com/

Anthologies and collections are difficult to review but Brian Lindunmuth has come up with an interesting concept. He asked both reviewers and writers to each review a story from "Requiems for the Departed" and he's published the reviews over at Spinetingler. Very cool concept and every story is reviewed so readers can get a pretty fair idea of what the anthology is like. No depending on one reviewer's likes or dislikes. You can check it out here http://www.spinetinglermag.com/2010/10/01/requiems-for-the-departed/

Fred Zackel dropped me an email the other day about a new flash market, at least to me, called 971menu http://www.971menu.com/index.html This is a non-paying market but they have a great presentation for your stories. Oh yeah, and Fred has a story in the current issue that just went live. Congrats to Fred!!

And just for fun, how would you reboot Star Wars? You can find out how others would do "Star Wars: The Complete Remake" here http://thefridaychallenge.blogspot.com/2010/09/ultimate-geek-fu_29.html And you're invited to add your remake/recast to the mix. Hmmm Viggo Mortensen as Han Solo?

Thanks for the link and contributing to the review project. I do think it's a great way to cover an anthology. If other publishers could make pdf's available I could do this more often. I'll probably make an announcement to that effect at some point.

One small quick thing to note. I'm still waiting on two stories and I'll post them if and when I receive them. And one story just flat out didn't get covered.

I was happy to be a part of it, Brian. I didn't count the reviews so didn't realize that all the stories weren't reviewed...a big duh on my part!

I do hope more publishers will participate, it's great coverage for their anthologies, which could mean better sales.
