ID Press - Anthology Call - Crime Fiction

ID Press has posted an anthology call for "Nefariam:  The Element of Crime".  They're looking for crime stories of 2000 to 5000 words with a genre twist.  They have examples and links in the guidelines.  The deadline is February 28, 2018 and payment is $25.  You can find the details here.

Thanks to Michael Bracken for the link!

Thanks, Sandra!

I guess "short story writer" is one of those professions that people used to earn livings at, but only do as a hobby now, like badger-wrangling. $25 for 5000 words is half a penny a word; that's literally what pulps paid in the middle of the Great Depression, when $25 was a month's rent. Ah, well.

Hello Sandra and Manuel,
I believe you a correct Manuel. I found an old poetry book published in 1928 titled "Vagabond's House" by Don Blanding.
The author actually made a living selling poetry to the Honolulu Star Bulletin and small magazines. No one could do that today.
Badger wrangling sounds like a fun thing to do, but trying to write short stories may be safer.

I'm ashamed to say I can't name half a dozen current poets. Very few are properly appreciated in their own time.

For some reason my ideas run to scripts (very few accessible markets) and short stories (lots of markets, but not much money). Going to try and focus on my first novel.
