I always worry when I write that I'm not educated enough to be putting words down on paper. That my thoughts and stories aren't as important as the writer who has an MFA degree decorating their wall. This link made me feel so much better. http://www.therejectionist.com/2010/04/cold-and-ugly-light-of-truth-special.html
Kathleen Ryan has a bunch of links to flash and poetry contests over at the Women of Mystery blog. http://www.womenofmystery.net/2010/04/writing-contests-fiction-poetry.html
Dogzplot is no longer accepting poetry or long short stories. The flash portion of their zine is the only one accepting submissions for flash of 200 words or less which you can find here http://www.dogzplot.blogspot.com
And finally this link http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/beds/bucks/herts/8606870.stm because I couldn't not share this one!

That Vampire Conference has missed the boat. It's all fallen angels now.
Writing is all about the future. A degree is all about the past.
I think that sense of feeling like a poseur is common to writers. I feel that way myself quite a lot. Who are WE to write something that someone might want to read. But then we find that there are folks who do want to read it.
I wonder if we'll ever be done with Vampires, Anton, they've been around a very long time with very few dry spells.
I hadn't thought about a degree in that way, James. They do tend to revel in the past, don't they?
Nice to know that I'm not the only one who feels that way, Charles!
