Anthology Call - A Hand of Knaves - Australian Writers

This one is for Australian writers only and submissions don't open until August 1.  That gives you a good month to come up with a great story for The Canberra Speculative Fiction Guild's anthology "A Hand of Knaves".  They're looking for speculative fiction stories up to 5000 words that feature the "knaves" as the protagonist.  And yes, they explain exactly what they're looking for in the guidelines.  The payment here is $30.  You can find the details here.

Dakka Press - Call for Podcast Submissions

Dakka Press is seeking short stories and audio plays in any genre (PG 13 level) for their online podcasts.  They're paying 1.5cents a word with a cap at 3500 words though you may submit longer pieces.  Their minimum payment is $20.  You can find the details here.  This one is for Manuel who asked me a long time ago to find him a market for radio plays :)  I finally found one.

Flame Tree Publishing - Anthology Calls

Flame Tree Publishing has posted two anthology calls, on for "Pirates and Ghosts" and the second for "Agents and Spies".  Stories should be 2000 to 4000 words.  The deadline for both is July 7. 2017 and payment is 6cents a word.  The good thing about this short notice call is that they'll be taking reprints as well as original work.  You can find the details here.

Blood & Bourbon - Open for Submissions

First off, this is a non-paying market but I thought it might be a fit for some of you noir writers out there.  Blood & Bourbon is looking for both fiction and non-fiction up to 2500 words that is hard, gritty, and raw.  The theme for their Fall issue is Death.  You can find the details here.  Their Spring issue is now available for purchase or as a free download, just go to the home page for details.

Silver Empire Press - Anthology Call

Silver Empire Press has posted an anthology call for "Stairs in the Woods".  They have a picture and some ideas to get you started.  They are looking for stories of 3000 to 20,000 words in any genre.  The deadline is August 31, 2017 and payment is a royalty split.  You can find the details here.

Owl Hollow Press - Anthology Call - Short Notice

Owl Hollow Press has an anthology call for a "Pick Your Poison" anthology.  They don't specify genre but I think they're leaning more toward the spec-fiction genres.  They want stories under 7500 words.  The deadline is June 30, 2017 and payment is $50.  You can find the details here.
