The Bill Crider Prize for Short Fiction - Open for Submissions

Bouchercon 2019 is seeking submissions for The Bill Crider Prize for Short Fiction.  They're looking for short mystery/crime stories of 3500 to 5000 words using the theme Deep in the Heart (relating to Texas with an element of mystery or crime).  The deadline is March 1, 2019.  First prize is $1000, second $750, and third $500.  You can find the details here.  There are no fees to enter.

Dark House Books - Anthology Calls

Dark House Books opened submissions today for their anthology "A Murder of Crows".  They're looking for cozy to cozy noir crime stories set in any time using the collective names of groups of animals.  The animals should be an integral part of the crimes.  Stories should be 2500 to 6000 words.  The deadline is April 30, 2019 and payment is a royalty split.  You can find the details here.

Fireside Magazine opened submissions today for short stories up to 4000 words in any genre.  The deadline is December 31, 2018 and payment is 12.5cents per word.  You can find the details here.

Unnerving - Open for Reprint Novella and Novel Submissions

Unnerving is currently looking for reprint novellas (16,500 ti 45,000 words) and novels (up to 250,000 words) in the genres of horror, suspense, thriller, and crime.  There's no deadline listed.  Payment is a 50% royalty split.  The details are on their Submittable page.

Simian Publishing - Anthology Call

Simian Publishing opened submissions today for their anthology "Apotheosis 2".  They're looking for stories of of 2000 to 7000 words about human survival and defiance in a world subjugated by the return of the Elder Gods.  And yes, they explain it in more detail and give examples of stories and authors.  The deadline is December 31, 2018 and payment is 3cents a word for original stories and 1cent a word for reprints.  You can find the details here.
