Just wanted to add there are no up front costs to authors if they are accepted. There are, however, standards in quality we are requiring in terms of the story, the editing, and the cover art. Authors are free to use anyone they want for these services, or they can use us at a vastly reduced rate. For instance, Mr. White had a friend of his paint his cover. And the majority of submissions we receive already come to us professionally edited. And with authors keeping 100% of their royalties in perpetuity we feel these are fair requirements. Certainly our model is not for everyone but we are receiving lots of positive feedback from the authors working with us. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about our new model in more detail. Just drop me a line at grandmalpress at gmail dot com. Thanks!

Grand Mal Presshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02750889933837947919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1624614653537130690.post-65399419870128845522015-12-23T10:25:25.814-08:002015-12-23T10:25:25.814-08:00Thank you for stopping by, Robert, and letting us ...Thank you for stopping by, Robert, and letting us know how the press has worked for you. The more information a writer has the better he can deal with what comes after the writing. And I agree that the small presses are doing a wonderful job, but you also have to learn how to deal with them and how to spot the bad apples.sandra seamanshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09786095189231150008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1624614653537130690.post-78836385514545128252015-12-23T09:34:55.479-08:002015-12-23T09:34:55.479-08:00Two of my five books, including my first two hardb...Two of my five books, including my first two hardboiled novels, were published with GMP's previous standard contracts and my latest noir fiction with its new business model last month. I'm very pleased with the results: my novel has the Grand Mal Press logo, which establishes the vetting and credentials. Sure, there will be those who discriminate against this one as a "self-published" novel. That's to be expected, but if you're overly concerned that your book won't be "accepted" by the snobs who run MWA and its lackey websites, you need not fear. GMP will promote you and do everything in its power as an indie press to get you into the marketplace. The royalties aren't the issue here; it's about novelists getting an opportunity. The Goliath of NYC's publishing stranglehold is being broken, little by little, by excellent small presses like GMP. Robbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07641255948565952162noreply@blogger.com
